Freestanding Encaustic Painting

One of my recent favorites, this is a freestanding encaustic painting created using beeswax, tree resin, and pigment on salvaged wood.  The base is 3×3 inches, and it stands just over 10 inches tall.  Due to the delicate nature of fresh paint, this piece is pickup only.

Encaustic painting is an ancient art form using a mixture of beeswax, tree resin, and pigment. The medium is painted while warm on a porous, stiff surfaces like wood.
